Resources

As feminist scholars who study and teach about the gender and sexual politics of nation states, militarism, racial capitalism, and war, we feel obliged to offer educational resources to help our students parse debates over the policies of nation states and the politics of identity. In this moment when the conflation of anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is creating a dangerous atmosphere of misinformation, and in response to student requests for historical context and scholarship addressing this conflation, we offer these resources as a starting point for clarifying why the distinction matters. We also offer resources below that contextualize and explain the principle of academic freedom as foundational to the free pursuit of knowledge, a core value of a liberal arts education. The first set of resources on Palestine as a Feminist Issue were posted to the WGSS on October 21, 2023 and removed by Barnard College less than 24 hours later. We return them here along with additional resources and new topics. We had always intended this resource list to be updated as discussions evolved on campus and beyond, and we will continue to update the list in the coming weeks.
